A World of Fun & Learning--Kindergarten Edition is a new CD-ROM collection from Humongous Entertainment. It introduces youngsters to a world of exploration, discovery and fun. It combines lovable characters and engaging activities that enable children to further develop reading comprehension, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The Kindergarten Edition includes two complete software products: Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo and Big Thinkers! Kindergarten. There is also a Putt-Putt Notebook that features learning exercises, collectible stickers and cheerful coloring pages. Another collection in this series is a World of Fun & Learning 1st Grade (see our review of the 1st Grade Edition). A World of Fun & Learning--Kindergarten Edition is available on a CD-ROM that can be used with a PC with Windows or a Macintosh. Price $19.99. Installation--No installation is required. Just load the CD into the CD-ROM drive and click the Play button to start the game. There is no User Guide but there are thorough notes in the Readme files on the CDs and some on the CD cover booklets. Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo--Putt-Putt and Pep to the rescue! It's the grand opening of the Cartown Zoo and all the baby animals are missing. Children help Putt-Pitt and Pep save the animals by answering clues and solving puzzles. Big Thinkers! Kindergarten--Kids are introduced to curriculum-based kindergarten lessons including letter identification, measurement and estimation, sequencing, spelling and much more. Putt-Putt Notebook--The Putt-Putt activity notebook contains a multitude of learning exercises designed to expand cognitive abilities, a myriad of collectible stickers and engaging coloring pages. A World of Fun & Learning--Kindergarten Edition is an excellent choice. You get 2 games for the price of one. Even though the games are an earlier release, the quality is good, and they work on older machines. Humongous Entertainment products for children are some of the best on the market. They are entertaining and fun, but they also have educational merit for parents that want some learning value in their children's software. The characters are lovable and the animation and music will please both adults and children. Our two helpers Natalie, age 5, and Morgan, age 7, really enjoy these programs.
